(PTI Photo)(PTI02_08_2024_000172B)Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said there was no place for divisions in India’s mantra of unity in diversity and that “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” was a spiritual belief.
“We have harnessed our strength and diversity, transforming every corner of the country into a powerhouse of progress. As Shri Krishna teaches us – ‘I am the soul seated in the hearts of all living beings’ – emphasising the unity that lies within the diversity of our nation. This unity in diversity is ingrained so deeply in the Indian psyche that the notion of division finds no place within it. For the world, a nation may represent a political ideology, but for India, ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ is a spiritual belief,” the Prime Minister said.
He was addressing the 150th birth anniversary of Acharya Srila Prabhupada, the founder of Gaudiya Mission that propagates the teachings of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
For the next 25 years, till the 100th year of Independence in 2047, he said the country would work with development and heritage in harmony. He said the youth today “wears its culture proudly on its forehead”, and that they had understood the importance of spirituality and start-ups both. He said a large number of young people could be seen among pilgrims at Varanasi and Ayodhya.
“When youth lead the country, it can land a rover on the moon, and nourish the traditions by naming the landing spot ‘Shivshakti’. Now Vande Bharat trains will also run in the country, and Vrindavan, Mathura and Ayodhya will also be rejuvenated,” he said.
Referring to Srila Prabhupada’s monastery in Bengal, the Prime Minister said Bengal had been a “source of constant energy from spirituality and intellectuality”. He told the audience that the Ganga Ghat in Mayapur in Bengal was under-construction under the Namai Gange mission.
