MP sarpanchs now have power implement projects worth Rs 25 lakh: CM Mohan Yadav

MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that sarpanchs in Madhya Pradesh can now undertake development works worth up to Rs 25 lakh and will receive Rs 50,000 each for village projects, as the state gears up to celebrate 2026 as the Year of Agriculture-Based Industries.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday said that under the three-tier Panchayati Raj framework, sarpanchs have been vested with significant powers to drive transformation in their respective villages. He said the state’s rural development momentum is fueled by the active participation of sarpanchs, who play a vital role in implementing welfare and development schemes at the grassroots level.

Announcing greater financial autonomy, the Chief Minister said panchayats can now undertake works worth up to Rs 25 lakh. In addition, each panchayat representative will receive Rs 50,000 for development activities. CM Yadav also emphasised that panchayats, much like urban local bodies, must develop systems for project planning and implementation and will be empowered to prepare village development plans.

Patel further urged sarpanchs of panchayats located near river origins to focus on the maintenance and protection of these water sources in their development plans. He also announced that panchayats with populations above 5,000 will receive two community halls.

He announced that a state-level conference of panchayat representatives will be organized in Bhopal from November 24 to 26. The announcement came during his address at the Sarpanch United Front Conference held at Jamboree Ground, where CM Mohan Yadav received a warm welcome. Representatives from various sarpanch associations presented memorandums to him.

Expressing grief over the car explosion in Delhi, Mohan Yadav led a two-minute silence in memory of the victims. He said the country stands firmly behind the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, noting that the Centre’s efforts are focused on completely eliminating terrorism and Naxalism.

Focus on Shri Ram Van Gaman Path

CM Mohan Yadav urged panchayat representatives to identify and document places linked with Lord Shri Ram for inclusion in the Shri Ram Van Gaman Path development plan. He said the government also plans to develop sites associated with Lord Shri Krishna as pilgrimage destinations.

He encouraged panchayats to prioritise sectors such as education, healthcare, employment, and industry while promoting animal husbandry and cow rearing to make Madhya Pradesh a leading state in milk production.
