Maharashtra: 20 killed, 15 hurt in bus-container collision

The accident took place on Dhule-Chalisgaon road near the Chinchgavhan crossing when the state transport bus collided head-on with the container truck, informed a Jalgaon police official.

At least 20 persons were killed and 15 others injured, some of them seriously, when a packed state transport bus collided with a container truck in adjoining Jalgaon district on Thursday, police said.

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus was on its way to Surat from Chalisgaon when it crashed into the container coming from the opposite direction, said the Special I G Control Room based in Nashik.

At least 20 persons, including the container driver, were killed and 15 others injured in the accident that took place at around 2.30 PM on Dhule-Chalisgaon Highway, about 140 km from Nashik in North Maharashtra, it said.

The injured, some in serious condition, were admitted to hospitals in Dhule and Chalisgaon, the Control Room said.
