Pak troops open fire in J-K; jawan injured

In a fresh ceasefire violation,Pakistani troops fired on an Indian post in Poonch district leaving an army jawan injured.

In a fresh ceasefire violation,Pakistani troops on Saturday fired on an Indian post in Mendhar sector of Poonch district leaving an army jawan injured.

Pakistani troops,using LMGs and MMGs,fired on Kripan post in Mendhar sector of this border district from 0930 hours to 1030 hours,defence sources said,adding they fired approximately 500 rounds.

However,Indian troops did not retaliate and the firing stopped after 1030 hours.

A jawan,Om Bahadur,sustained bullet wounds in the firing and was hospitalised,they said.

Pakistani troops have been violating the ceasefire by opening firing on a few occasions.

On September 21,Pakistani troops had fired nearly 135 rounds on Indian positions in the district.

In Another incident in Kathua district in Jammu division BSF troops opened fire after observing suspicious movement along the International Border on Saturday.

A patrolling party of BSF noticed suspicious movement along the border near Pansar area in Hiranagar sector past midnight,said the police,adding the security forces in an attempt to thwart any kind of intrusion opened fire.

However,there was no casualty or injury reported to any one,they said.

Troops along the border had intensified the patrolling in view of attempts from across the border to push intruders and militants to the Indian side of the border,they added.
