The Indian Army helicopter,which had accidentally strayed across the Line of Control (LoC) in October,was possibly checked by Pakistani authorities while it was in their custody,Defence Minister A K Antony told the Lok Sabha today.
“It is possible that the Pakistani authorities may have examined the helicopter,” he said in a written reply to a question in the House,adding an inquiry has been instituted to probe the incident.
Antony was asked whether the sensitive data stored in various instruments in the helicopter could have been seized by the Pakistani authorities.
An Indian Army’s Cheetah helicopter carrying four of its personnel was forced to land in Pakistani territory after it strayed into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on October 23.
The chopper was on its way to Bhimbhat from Leh.
The chopper was allowed to fly back to its base in Kargil less than five hours after the incident.
