Batch of 2,088 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

Amid tight security arrangements,another batch of 2,088 pilgrims left Jammu for 3,888 metre high cave shrine of Lord Shiva at Amarnath in Kashmir.

Amid tight security arrangements,another batch of 2,088 pilgrims today left Jammu for 3,888 metre high cave shrine of Lord Shiva at Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.

As many as 2,088 pilgrims comprising of 1,417 males,393 females,74 children and 204 Sadhus left in 85 vehicles from Bagwatinagar yatri bhawan – base camp in Jammu around 0500 hours today,police officials said.

The yatra convoy with mobile escort of CRPF,Police and ITBP has already crossed Udhampur and are on their way to the base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam in Kashmir valley.

As many as 25,500 pilgrims have had darshan of the ice ligum of Lord Shiva at the Amarnath cave shrine till now,Shrine Amarnath Shrine Board Officials said.

“The yatra is going on smoothly”,Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said,adding all necessary facilities have been made enroute.

As many as 3 lakh pilgrims have been registered so far across the country. The yatra would conclude on August 25.
