Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during a public meeting, in Satna, Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023. (PTI Photo) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday took a jibe at Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stating that “Mama (Chouhan) cheated his nephews and nieces” and asked the voters to trust “your chacha” instead. He also promised various guarantees, including free 24-hour electricity supply and quality education, across Madhya Pradesh while speaking at a town hall gathering in Satna district.
“I got to know there is a ‘Mama’ in Madhya Pradesh. He has cheated his nephews and nieces, do not trust him. Now your ‘chacha’ has come, do not trust your ‘mama’, show trust in your ‘chacha’. I will build schools, colleges and hospitals and provide jobs for the youth of Madhya Pradesh,” he said.
At the event, the Delhi CM released ‘Kejriwal ki Guarantee’ document, promising free electricity supply, quality education, free healthcare for all, free pilgrimage to the elderly, an honorarium of Rs 1 crore to the families of fallen soldiers, among others.
Kejriwal said that the BJP and Congress would be unable to provide free electricity. “You have tried both these parties (BJP and Congress) for 75 years… you don’t get a 24×7 free power supply. If you want a 24×7 unhindered electricity supply then vote for the AAP, and if you want long power cuts then vote for these two parties,” Kejriwal said.
He adopted a similar line of attack of the Congress which has been making allegations of ‘bribe for job’ scams. “It takes bribery and favours to get government jobs in MP, now let’s stop bribery. In Delhi and Punjab, people get jobs solely on the basis of merit. We will eradicate corruption… in Punjab, 3,000 officials and even a few ministers have been sent to jail. Their black money is being used for the construction of hospitals and schools. We will recover all the money from the scams perpetrated by the previous governments,”he said.
