Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Saturday gave the go ahead to states industries department to crackdown on illegal mining after the Industries minister,Mukesh Agnihotri,hinted that big sharks were behind the organised loot of the states mineral wealth.
The CM announced the setting-up of a committee under Chief Secretary Sudripta Roy to check illegal mining and has been given a months time to submit the report.
The mining wing of the industries department has already detected 1,256 cases of illegal mining in the past three months.
In 925 cases,fines worth Rs 61.44 lakh have been recovered, the CM was informed by officials of the industries department.
Meanwhile,Virbhadra informed that during the first 100 days of the government,38 proposals had been approved by the State Level Single Window Clearance and Monitoring Authority with an investment of Rs 608.64 crore having employment potential of 2000 persons.
The Industries minister added that three new industrial areas have been identified in Solan,Una and Kangra districts as per budget announcement.
Fresh investment a great challenge Industries minister,Mukesh Agnihotri,said that fresh investment in the states industries was a great challenge in the absence of a Special Industrial Package and efforts were being made to get fresh incentive package from the Centre.
