Vigilance questions Mani in bar bribery case

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) on Friday questioned Kerala Finance Minister K M Mani in connection with the bar bribery case.

The VACB had registered a case against Mani following the allegation that he had accepted bribe from bar hotel owners to get their liquor licence renewed.

Bar Hotel Owners Association working president Biju Ramesh had alleged that another bar hotel owner, Rajkumar Unni, had gone to Mani’s residence here to hand over the money. He said Unni had gone to Mani’s house in his car.

Ramesh’ driver had earlier told the VACB that he had taken Unni to Mani’s official residence and had seen Unni handing over a bag containing currency to the minister. Recently, the VACB examined the vehicle register to ascertain whether Ramesh car had gone to the minister’s house on the stated day.
