Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s son Vikramaditya Singh has expressed ‘deep regret’ and a sense of remorse over the clash between a group of Youth Congress activists, which he allegedly led, and BJP workers outside the BJP office in Shimla.
Vikramaditya also offered himself to any kind of probe – magisterial or judicial as asked by former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal and the BJP leadership.
He said, “I am ready to face any inquiry. We have photographs and video clips to show that Youth Congress was not at fault. It’s sure, I will certainly come out clean of the charges of engineering the violence. Still, I am extending deep regrets for the happening”.
During the day, Vikramaditya Singh was granted an interim anticipatory bail from a local court till February 4.
He has been accused of rioting and tresspassing by the BJP in its complaint lodged at Boileu Ganj police station on Wednesday. The BJP held protests and demonstrations across the state to seek his arrest and an independent probe into the violence.
Meanwhile, admitting that his father has disapproved of his ‘misadventure’ and told him to put a lid on it, Vikramaditya promised not to lead any such protest in future.
Top BJP leaders including Prem Kumar Dhumal and BJP state president Satpal Satti had met Governor Kalyan Singh and sought dismissal of the Congress government, apart from an inquiry by sitting High Court judge into purported ‘attack’ on the BJP office on the pretext of holding ‘peaceful’ demonstration against the Centre’s Land Acquisition Ordinance .
