A 30-year-old government school teacher was allegedly shot dead by Naxals in Maoist-hit Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh, police said Wednesday.
The contractual teacher, Ranveer Salame, was killed Tuesday evening by a group of armed Naxals at weekly market in Teregaon village while he was there with his wife, Rajnandgaon SP Sanjeev Shukla said. About 10 armed Naxals shot at him, Shukla said.
Eyewitnesses claim self-styled commander of Mohla region of CPI (Maoist), Chintu Tekam, was one of the assailants, he said. The reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, he said , adding that a case has been registered and security forces have launched a hunt to nab the attackers.
