Second merit list for FYJC

The education department Sunday released the second merit list of the first year junior college online admissions,confirming allotment to 51,176 students.

The education department Sunday released the second merit list of the first year junior college online admissions,confirming allotment to 51,176 students.

Around 1.72 lakh students had been allotted seats in the first round,of which only 43,000 students got the seats of their choice,while 34,436 students got a betterment in the second round of admission. This includes 11,949 students in the Science stream,21,196 in Commerce and 1,291 in Arts stream.

“Students have to take a provisional admission in college they are allotted seats in to remain in the online system. They can better their chances in the next round,” said NB Chavan,deputy director of school education.

Students allotted seats in the second round will have to secure admission and wait for the third and final list for a betterment chance. Cut-offs in some of the major colleges,which declared their second merit list Sunday,saw a one per cent fall this year as compared with last year.

“We are expecting to fill the seats in the second round of admission,” said Dr. Vijay Joshi,Principal of Somaiya College.
