‘Religion should not be used to mislead people’

Renowned singer K J Yesudas has stressed the need for exerting utmost vigil against attempts to ‘mislead’ people on caste and communal considerations as all religions preach universal truth of love and compassion.

The growing tendency among a section of people to mislead fellow human beings on the grounds of religion is an area of grave concern as no religions ever preached hatred towards members of other communities,Yesudas said.

Progagation of religion is essential for the survival and well-being of humanity. At the same time it was equally important to accommodate and understand the essence preached by all religions,he said.

Yesudas was speaking after inaugurating a meet on communal harmony,hosted here last evening as part of the year-long centenary celebrations of a Lord Shiva idol’s consecration by renowned social reformer Sreenarayana Guru.
