The Punjab Police plans to question Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda while he is in the custody of the Delhi Police.
The Punjab Police will definitely question him but when and how is yet to be decided. A lot will depend on the information he gives to the Delhi Police, ADGP (Intelligence) Hardeep Dhillon said.
Former Punjab DGP K P S Gill too on Tuesday said it would be better if Tunda is interrogated by the Punjab Police in the wake him claiming that LeT has links with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
Punjab Police has worked with terrorism for years. The background information they have and what Tunda can provide will benefit the security agencies, he said while speaking to mediapersons on the sidelights of a panel discussion here.
Tunda, who was arrested last week from the India-Nepal border, has told Delhi Police that BKI was now headed by Ratandeep Singh.
Asked about ISI putting pressure on BKI to revive terrorism in Punjab and indulge in drug and fake currency trades,Gill said there is no threat of a renewal of terrorism in Punjab and it is known that ISI was fanning terrorist outfits in India and abroad. The ISI has been doing the same thing for years. Whatever links it has with terrorists from Punjab have already been made, he added.
Claiming that there was nothing new about the revelations being made Tunda,Gill said: He is not giving us any new information. But that does not mean that his arrest is no achievement. It (Tundas arrest) is a great achievement and very soon we should also have others in our most wanted list.
