Still fresh from the controversy over Delhi University’s Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), the HRD Ministry is now bracing up for a barrage of Parliament questions on the issue. It is learnt that both the UGC and HRD Ministry are in the middle of formulating answers to several questions that have lined up. The coming session will also test the skills of HRD Minister Smriti Irani, who has largely kept mum on the FYUP controversy.

VACUUM AT TOP
In what was seen as an unusual development, the government failed to appoint Secretary, Urban Development, for a full day after the retirement of Sudhir Krishna, a 1977-batch Karnataka cadre officer, on Monday. This is a first incident of its kind when the government could not decide on a new name or at least give additional charge to somebody after a secretary level-officer retired.
THE MIX-UP
Press Information Bureau issued the photograph of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki calling on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley with a caption in which Tuki was identified as Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang. The picture with the incorrect caption was issued around 4.45 pm with the photo ID 54877. The same picture with the incorrect caption was uploaded in the PIB’s Twitter handle PIB_India. Zeliang last visited Delhi a month ago.
