On the complaint of the family members of a student,who had committed suicide by jumping into a river,a school headmaster and staff were booked on Thursday under charges of driving a student to commit suicide. The boy went missing on February 16 and his body was recovered from Beas river,near Shri Hargobindpur,on Wednesday. The post mortem examination was conducted on Thursday. After Pushpinder Singh (14),a class 7 student of Government High School of Balhadda village,Mukerian,went missing,his father,Surjit Singh,filed a complaint with the police on February 17 stating that his son had gone to school,but didn’t return. Surjit alleged that Pushpinder might have taken the extreme step owing to depression as he was often beaten up by his teachers.
