MBA student held for ‘objectionable’ message about Modi on WhatsApp

The police said that Wakash created a JPEG image that read “Ab ki bar Modi, antya samskar” and forwarded it to his friends.

The Central Crime Branch police arrested an MBA student and questioned his four roommates in the city for sending an objectionable comment  against Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi via messaging application WhatsApp. The suspect Syed Wakash, 24, is from Bhatkal and is in the city for vocational training.

His four roommates — Osama Olangar, Rehmat Ullah, Sada Kola and Mujaheed  — with whom he stayed at Vasanth Nagar were also questioned but later released. The police said that Wakash created a JPEG image that read “Ab ki bar Modi, antya samskar” and forwarded it to his friends.

The image was received by Belgaum-based activist Jayanth Tinekar, who lodged a complaint on May 23. The police, after finding that the content came from Bangalore, tipped the CCB police who arrested Wakash Saturday.
