Two batches of terrorists belonging to the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) are planning to slip into Indian territory, taking advantage of shelling by Pakistan, sources in intelligence agencies revealed.
According to sources, the first group comprises seven terrorists from the LeT and JeM from a camp in the Neelam valley in PoK and they plan to infiltrate through Doga in PoK. Sources added that the second group of six LeT members based in Dudhnial in PoK would attempt to infiltrate through Thandapani. Both groups, sources said, aim to reach Kupwara district.

“Inputs indicate that these two groups would attempt to infiltrate under cover fire provided by Pakistan Rangers along the LoC over the past few days. The intelligence input has been shared with security forces in order to thwart the infiltration attempts and neutralise the two groups,” a source said.
On July 16, there was an infiltration attempt by three suspected terrorists in the Jammu sector at Indreshwar Nagar. They were given cover fire by a Pakistan post, Jamshed. When security forces retaliated, the exchange of fire expanded to include some nearby posts. Pakistan also resorted to mortar shelling.
This was reportedly the third infiltration attempt from across the border that was foiled by troops in Jammu & Kashmir since Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif met in Ufa, Russia. Three days earlier, Army troops had foiled an infiltration attempt from PoK, killing a terrorist along the LoC in Mendhar sector. Two terrorists had sneaked into the Indian territory from across the LoC at Balnoi. While one infiltrator was killed in a skirmish, another managed to escape under cover of darkness. On July 12, troops had killed three terrorists in Keran sector after they crossed over to the Indian side from PoK.
