Jammu and Kashmir police plans to seek the help of Forensic Science laboratories (FSL) in Hyderabad and Chandigarh to retrieve the data of three Hard-Discs seized from journalist Farooq Ganai who was arrested last week for his alleged links with the Pakistan Army and ISI.
“The help of the computer experts at FSLs at Hyderabad and Chandigarh would be sought to retrieve the data from the three hard-discs of 3 Central Processing Units (CPUs) of the computers seized his Jewel chowk office in Jammu,” sources said on Wednesday.
This is necessary to recover the deleted data base to know the sensitive information which has been sent outside.
“Not only this,it will help us crack the network of his ring also. We are investigation about any spy ring created by him and involvement of more people in it,” they said.
Arrested under the Enemy Act for spying for Pakistan’s Inter-service Intelligence (ISI) and Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Pakistan Army,editor of a local news agency,Ganai,was sent to 10-day long police remand for further interrogation on Tuesday.
Gania,who has twice visited Pakistan,has reportedly told interrogators about the modus operandi of sending the emails to FIU and ISI operators in Pakistan by using password IDs and only saving information supplied to other side and also getting directions in the similar way.
Recently,he received a mail from Pakistan’s FIU about the movement of troops along the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts,they said.
Gania,as per the sources,has been sending vital information related to security and defence establishment,locations,troop deployment,railway tracks,flyovers and strategic places in J-K to FIU and ISI operators for past over one and half years.
