FIR against Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha over threatening charges

A case has been registered under IPC Sections 504 and 507 at Kadri police station in Mangalore.

Mangalore police have registered case against Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha after a journalist alleged that the BJP leader had threatened and abused him over the phone.

Responding to a Facebook post by Simha on Salman Khan’s imprisonment on Thursday, Shreyas H S, who works for a regional online portal, reported that the MP had “backed” the actor, while trying to publicise the 2014 Motor Vehicle Amendment bill. “Later Prathap Simha called me over the phone and used abusive language. He also threatened me,” Shreyas said in his complaint.

Shreyas also posted a Twitter snapshot of the MP’s message that said: “Idiot, don’t spread falsehood here.”

A case was registered under IPC Sections 504 and 507 at Kadri police station in Mangalore.

In his reaction, Simha denied that he had threatened the journalist and added that calling someone “idiot” did not amount to threat. “It’s a false allegation. I did not threaten him and would not like to add anything more to it,” he said.
