The annual Dogra Ratan Awards to be presented on December 6 will see three winners getting the honour posthumously.
Council for Promotion of Dogri Language,Culture and History (CPDLCH) on Friday announced the names of six winners who come from diverse backgrounds and fields.
Among the winners is Major Akash Singh,who achieved martyrdom in a fierce gunbattle with militants in Jammu and Kashmir in September.
The erstwhile Dogra Maharani Yasho Rajya Lakshmi,who died in July this year,will also be awarded Dogra Ratan posthumously. She was wife senior Congress leader Karan Singh.
Another recepient,Ashok Sodhi,a lensman with a local daily died while covering a fierce gunbattle between militants and security forces in Kalimandi forward belt in Samba
district on May 11,2008.
Beside them,other reciepants of the Dogra Ratan awards are former vice-chairman of Jammu University,R R Sharma,Dogri writer Madan Mohan Sharma and Dogri folk singer Parduman Singh Jindrahiya.
“These awards shall be given by the J-K governor N N Vohra at a function of CPDLCH at Abhinav Theatre here on December 6,” member-secretary of CPDLCH Jitender Udhampuri told reporters here.
