Power discoms like Uttar and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam in Haryana have asked consumers to get their unauthorised extension of load regularised under the Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (VDS),without paying a penalty,by June 30.
Unauthorized extension of load and theft of electricity is putting pressure on the distribution system, resulting in interruptions in power supply. If the load is declared by the consumers, capacity of the system will be increased accordingly. Without availability of load on record,it becomes difficult for the authorities to approve schemes of system improvement, said Chairman-cum-Managing Director (UHBVN and DHBVN) Devender Singh.
He added: VDS is most beneficial for farmers and domestic consumers. In some parts of the state, the level of underground water is going down due to extensive pumping or scanty rains. It becomes a necessity for farmers to install motors of higher capacity at their tubewells. Likewise, requirement of new appliances arises for comfortable living, causing extension in load.
