Naxals kill ‘mentally challenged’ man

An unidentified man was Sunday shot dead by Naxals in Gadchiroli — first civilian murder this year. The man,posing as mentally challenged person,was collecting intelligence about them,Naxals claimed. “Naxals left a note saying he was posing as mentally challenged person but was actually collecting intelligence. Nobody from villages nearby knows him. We are trying to establish his identity,” DIG Police (Gadchiroli range) Ravindra Kadam said. “He had no connection with police as Naxals allege,” he added.

Teacher seeks sexual favours,suspended

Police have registered an offence against a male teacher of a school in Dipti Signal area of Nagpur city allegedly for seeking sexual favours from girl students and threatening that unless they complied,he would ensure that they failed in their examinations. Pradip Gupta,the teacher,has been suspended.

Raj Thackeray cancels meetings in Vidarbha

MNS chief Raj Thackeray has cancelled two workers’ meetings in Vidarbha,citing “exertion” as the reason.

Thackeray has been in Vidarbha since March 15. He travelled to Chandrapur,holding meetings with workers there as well as from Gadchiroli. He then proceeded to Wardha district.After returning to Nagpur on March 17,Thackeray was to travel to Bhandara on Monday for a meeting with workers there and Gondia. He,however,cancelled the trip,saying that he was exhausted. On Tuesday,he was to meet Nagpur party workers but cancelled the meeting too.
