Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Transport Minister G S Bali had a miraculous escape in a road accident,in which his private secretary and driver of his official vehicle were severely injured near Sonepat in Haryana in the wee hours of Sunday. The minister was on his way to New Delhi after the cabinet meeting in Shimla when his Innova car rammed into a stationary truck,following which,another car with the two staff members rammed into his car. Bali sustained injuries on his chest and limbs and was rushed to AIIMS along with the other officials.

3 held for printing fake currency notes

Chandigarh: Haryana Police on Sunday arrested three people in Kaithal on charges of printing and selling fake currency notes. A large number of fake currency notes,a photocopy machine,printer and copier were recovered from their possession. During interrogation,prime accused Rishi Pal,a resident of Shiv Nagar,Kaithal,revealed that along with a milk vendor,he took to printing fake currency notes after reading a currency printing article in a newspaper. Pal has been sent in police remand,while the other two accused have been sent to judicial custody,” a Haryana police spokesperson said.

Swine flu cases touch 373 in Haryana

Chandigarh: As many as 708 suspected cases of swine flu have been tested and screened in Haryana since January 1,of which 373 cases were tested positive. A health department disclosed that so far 93 patients had been treated. “As many as 50 cases were treated by home quarantine. Since January 1,38 people have so far lost their lives. In case of any symptoms of H1N1,people should contact the nearest health institution,” a government spokesperson said.

Applications invited for education dept

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has invited applications for the posts of craft instructor and senior assistant for the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training. Applications have been invited for 216 posts of craft instructors and 33 posts of senior assistants. Last date to register online is March 25.
