Kerala businessman Mohammed Nisham (39), who is accused of killing a security guard in Thrissur with his Hummer SUV, was brought to Bangalore on Wednesday and taken into custody for three days in connection with a case of threatening and assaulting a software engineer in December last year. Nisham allegedly attacked the techie and almost ran him over for objecting to frequent disturbances at night at a residential area in central Bangalore. The incident took place on the night of December 22, 2014 but Bangalore police registered a criminal case against Nisham, owner of the King Beedi Company in Kerala, on February 16. Sources said after Nisham was arrested by Kerala police for allegedly running over a security guard, the techie Suman Roddam recognised him from pictures in the media and filed a complaint at Cubbon Park police station. Police sources said that Roddam had stated in his complaint that Nisham, who lived in a flat in central Bangalore drove around in his Lamborghini at midnight and caused disturbance for other residents. On one occasion, Roddam took up the matter with him, throwing the beedi baron in a fir of rage. [related-post] Nisham then allegedly assaulted the techie and threatened him at gun point. Roddam immediately informed the police but the complaint was treated as a petty offence because the businessman had allegedly managed to influence a police sub-inspector at Cubbon Park police station. Nisham has been booked under IPC’s Section 279 (rash driving), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) on the basis of Roddam’s complaint. He was brought to Bangalore on a transit warrant issued by a local court. This is the second case registered against Nisham in Bangalore. In another case registered with the Frazer Town police in East Bangalore, Nisham has been accused of rape by a Malayalam film actress and model. He allegedly cheated the woman with the promise of marriage. The Frazer Town police filed a chargesheet in the case in January this year.
