The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted cyclonic circulations over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-Gangetic West Bengal coasts around July 18. It’s likely to advance towards west-northwest wards across north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand during the next two-three days.
Meanwhile, the majority of the country is likely to continue experiencing light/moderate rain, except Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, West Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, where isolated to scattered rain is expected.
Here is the region-wise weather forecast for the next couple of days:
Northwest India:
Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh will continue to have fairly to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, and thunderstorms and isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan in the next three days.
Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand on July 17.
East and adjoining Northeast India:
Northeast India, Sub-Himalaya West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive fairly to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall today, Odisha from July 16 to July 18; Jharkhand on July 16. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Odisha on July 16.
Central India:
Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall, and thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over the region over the next five days. East and West Madhya Pradesh are to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on July 16 and July 17; Chhattisgarh on July 17.
West India:
Konkan and Goa will likely continue to have light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, in ghat areas of Maharashtra during the next 5 days and Gujarat state on July 19 and July 20.
South India:
Rainfall is likely to continue over Coastal Karnataka and Telangana between July 16 to July 20 with light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall and over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe and Interior Karnataka between July 18 to July 20.
