According to the boy’s father’s complaint, the teachers beat the child, allegedly because he took two days’ leave.
A seven-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by two of his teachers at a primary school in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district, police said.
An FIR has been registered against the teachers. According to the boy’s father’s complaint, the teachers beat the child, allegedly because he took two days’ leave.
Jhabrera Station House Officer Ajay Shah said the father approached the police station on Thursday after the principal took no action on his complaint. “He had gone to the principal with a complaint, but no action was taken against the accused teacher. After we received the complaint, we registered an FIR against the principal and the teacher,” the officer said.
According to Shah, the class 1 student was absent for two days and when he went to class after that, he was allegedly thrashed. “We have issued notices to the two accused, and further action will be taken,” he said.
In the complaint, the father alleged that one of the teachers “threw the child to the ground, pressed his face with a shoe, and held his hands” while the other “beat him with a stick”.
“As a result, the child’s hand bone got fractured. He also suffered injuries to his back and hips. He is in severe shock,” the complaint read.
After getting back home on Thursday, the boy narrated the incident to his family. When the father went to the school to complain about the matter, he alleged that he was threatened. “When I went to the school, both teachers threatened me, saying: ‘Go away, otherwise we will kill you,’” he claimed.

An FIR has been registered under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, for cruelty to a child, and Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita sections 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, and 351 (2) for criminal intimidation.
