The White House has installed new plaques along the “Presidential Walk of Fame”, featuring descriptions of all the former US leaders in a style reminiscent of Trump’s social media posts.
The exhibit, reflecting Trump’s unfiltered, distinctive tone, labels his predecessors as “divisive” and “sleepy”.
A plaque at the front said that the exhibit was “conceived, built, and dedicated” by Trump “as a tribute to past Presidents, good, bad and somewhere in the middle, who served our Country, and gave up so much in so doing”.
Trump’s own plaque boasts about his 2024 election victory and promises of a “Golden Age of America”.
The pointed descriptions criticise Democratic predecessors like Joe Biden and Barack Obama, with Biden’s plaque labelling him the “worst President in American History,” while Obama’s describing him as “one of the most divisive political figures in American History”.
Joe Biden
The plaque of former US president Joe Biden, which featured an image of an auto-pen, instead of his headshot, claims that he was mentally unfit and unaware of what was signed during his presidency.
“Sleepy Joe Biden was, by far, the worst President in American History. Taking office as a result of the most corrupt Election ever seen in the United States, Biden oversaw a series of unprecedented disasters that brought our Nation to the brink of destruction,” part of the plaque reads. “But despite it all, President Trump would get Re-Elected in a Landslide, and SAVE AMERICA!”
Barack Obama
Obama’s plaque was no gentler. It criticised the former US president for policies like the Affordable Care Act and the Paris Climate Accords.
“Barack Hussein Obama was the first Black President, a community organizer, one-term Senator from Illinois, and one of the most divisive political figures in American History,” the plaque reads. “As President, he passed the highly ineffective ‘Unaffordable’ Care Act”.
Bill Clinton
Bill Clinton’s plaque highlights Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential loss to Trump.
“In 2016, President Clinton’s wife, Hillary, lost the Presidency to President Donald J. Trump!”
George W. Bush
Bush’s plaque dings him for wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, but acknowledges the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
“President Bush created the Department of Homeland Security, but started wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, both of which should not have happened.”
Former President John F. Kennedy
Former President John F. Kennedy’s plaque highlights his diplomatic maneuvers and notes that he was the first Catholic elected president.
“Kennedy suffered a painful setback during the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion, and was President when the Soviet Union built the Berlin Wall, but skillfully navigated the threat of nuclear war during the Cuban Missile Crisis,” it reads. “Kennedy’s Presidency ended tragically with his assassination in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963.”
