​Goa Zilla Panchayat Election Results 2025 LIVE Updates: BJP-MGP alliance wins 30 seats; CM Pramod Sawant thanks state, party karyakartas

The Bharatiya Janata Party + Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party Alliance is looking strong with 30 seats in its kitty till 6.30 pm. The Congress secured, the Goa Forward Party, Aam Aadmi Party and Revolutionary Goans Party haven't been able to move to double figures.

As of 6.30 PM, Congress has managed to win 9 zilla panchayat seats, Goa Forward Party 1, AAP 1, and RGP 1. The BJP + MGP alliance is far ahead with 30 seats.

BJP Goa President Damodar ‘Damu’ Naik told The Indian Express, “In the last zilla panchayat election, we got 33 seats. As per results and trends so far, the BJP-MGP alliance looks set to win at least 34-35 seats this time. There are some independent candidates also, who are supporting us. We have restricted the Congress to single digits. The Opposition keeps saying do not got for EVMs and to have paper ballots. This was a paper ballot election. So, we have proved that all the speculation of ‘vote chori’ is completely wrong. People have given the mandate. In this election, we put up 80 percent new faces as candidates and did not repeat the candidates. Despite anti incumbency, we have managed to achieve this result."

As the BJP looks set for a big win in the Zilla Panchayat Election, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant thanked the state and party karyakartas

Sawant wrote on X: "Heartiest congratulations to all the newly elected Zilla Panchayat members of the BJP–MGP (NDA) Alliance. This strong mandate reflects the people’s faith in the Double Engine Sarkar, under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister..."

"I am confident the BJP-led Alliance will accelerate all-round development, strengthen transparent and accountable governance, and work towards a Viksit Goa and Viksit Bharat," he added.

In the Rivona Zilla Panchayat constituency, which is designated as an ST Women reserved seat, the final results for the election show a remarkably close contest between BJP's Rajeshree Rajesh Gaonkar, who secured 6,329 votes, and GFP's Sahidnya Santosh Gaonkar, who followed closely with 6,310 votes—a narrow margin of only 19 votes. The third candidate, Tejashwini Gaonkar, received 468 votes.

Aam Aadmi Party candidate Antonio Leao Jeronimo Agostinho Fernandes has been declared winner in the Colva Zilla Panchayat constituency following the completion of counting.

According to the final counting report issued by the Goa State Election Commission, Fernandes secured 3,214 votes, including 10 postal ballots, to emerge victorious in a five-cornered contest. Independent candidate Nelly Jose Rodrigues finished close behind with 3,141 votes, while Venicia Inacio Carvalho of the Indian National Congress polled 2,474 votes.

An independent candidate, Sunil Dharma Jalmi, wins from the Betqui-Candola seat. In second place with 5,988 votes polled is Shramesh Sukdu Bhosle of the BJP. Trailing in third and fourth places are Vinay Vithal Gaude (RGP) and Shaunak Shamprasad Kamat (AAP) with 880 and 75 votes, respectively.

BJP's Sameksha Vaman Naik has secured the Usgao-Ganje seat with 6,290 votes. Here's the total votes polled by each candidate in this constituency:

- Sameksha Vaman Naik (BJP)- 6,290 votes

- Manisha Krishna Shenvi Usegaonkar (Congress)- 2,932 votes

- Nerupa Umesh Gaude (RGP)- 567

- Devata Suresh Porob (Independent)- 563

The BJP has won the Borim Zilla Panchayat Constituency of South Goa with Poonam Chandrakant Samant securing the highest number of votes -- 4,524.

Among the candidates were Bhavana Manuraj Naik, who won 2,451 votes, and Harshal Sujit Borkar with 2,041 votes. Pranoti Premanand Shetkar polled 918 votes, while Chandan Kumar Gaude received 225 votes.

Independent candidate Merciana Mendes has won the Cortalim Zila Panchayat seat.

Sunil Gawas of the Bharatiya Janata Party has been declared elected as a member of the Sancoale Zila Panchayat Constituency.

Anthony Cedly Simao Braganza of the Indian National Congress secured Nuvem Zila Panchayat constituency with a total of 3,471 votes.

The Goa Zilla Panchayat Election saw a turnout of over 70.81 per cent -- the highest since these elections were first held in 2005.

As counting is underway in 14 centres is under way, the BJP has won nine seats and the Congress three so far.
