The quality of education provided in Germany,especially in the technical field,was far better than anywhere in the world,Consul General Rolf Saligmann,Consulate-General of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bangalore),said here.

Addressing an interactive session organised by Malabar Chamber of Commerce here,Saligmann said only around 4,000 Indian students were studying in Germany while there were 35,000 Chinese students in the country.

The sad part is only 200 German students are studying in India, he said.

Though language was the biggest hurdle in studying in Germany,more and more universities were having English in their curriculum,Saligmann said.

On trade ties,he said India and Germany had long and good bilateral economic relations.

The latest office of Indo-German Chamber of Commerce at Bangalore will become fully functional next year and visa services will be made available from the Consulate in Bangalore for the benefit of people from south India,he said.

Pointing out that Kerala had scope for trade,he said the state known for its tourism potential should highlight the available opportunities,especially in Ayurveda.
