Students given two more days to buy, submit forms after officials noted low sale; revised deadline is May 28 The deadline for the sale and submission of application forms for Delhi Universitys Common Aptitude Test in English (CATE) has been extended by two days. The CATE Committee took the decision on Tuesday after noting the low sale of forms. This means candidates can obtain and submit forms till May 28,instead of the previous May 26 deadline. Forms will be available at all 21 colleges accepting CATE scores. Other than the sale and submission of forms, all other dates remain the same. Newsline had reported on Tuesday that only 2,000 forms had been sold, against the expected 12,000. Sumanyu Satpathy,Head of the Department of English, had said there may have been a misunderstanding among candidates that there would be no CATE forms this year,as the university has done away with pre-admission forms. We witnessed an exponential growth in the sale of forms on Tuesday, and the total number of forms sold now stands at 4,000. About 2,500 forms have been submitted, and we expect the sale of forms to pick up in the coming days, said Satpathy. Officials think another reason why candidates were not coming forward to buy CATE forms might have been because the CBSE had not released its plus-two results by then. CATE applicants will have to pay through a demand draft Rs 300,drawn in favour of The Registrar,University of Delhi. The DD can be drawn from the State Bank of India,Punjab National Bank,ICICI Bank or HDFC Bank, payable at Delhi. About 1,000 students will be admitted on the basis of CATE results. The four colleges that have joined the CATE list this year are Lady Shri Ram College for Women,Rajdhani College,Kirori Mal College and Vivekananda College. CATE forms will also be available at Maharaja Agrasen College,Shyamlal College,Bharati College and Zakir Husain College, among others.
