Reminiscing about the days when he was training to be a bureaucrat, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said he was once asked to write about that one person who had influenced his life’s journey the most. He wrote about his wife Pana Devi and was at the receiving end of jokes about how he was afraid of her, said the minister. His reason, however, was that when his grandmother refused to give him money, his wife sold something she had made to pay `2 to the school so he could continue his studies. “Had it not been for her effort, I would not have become an operator at a telephone exchange, been in the RAS and the IAS, or become a minister,” said Meghwal at an event held on Saturday to mark women’s day.
Change Of Guard
Days after getting his security cover, a Delhi minister approached a senior police officer requesting him to either upgrade his security category or increase the number of personnel guarding him. It is learnt that the minister was told about the ‘Yellow Book’ of the MHA, which contains the guidelines regarding security protocols for VIPs and VVIPs, and asked to write to senior officers at the Delhi Police headquarters for the final decision. As the current Delhi Cabinet stands, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa have Z-category security, Deputy CM Parvesh Sahib Singh, ministers Kapil Mishra and Ashish Sood have Y-category and ministers Ravinder Indraj Singh and Pankaj Singh have X-category cover.
Mantra For Media
TO TRAIN them in media handling, the National Investigation Agency has decided to send its senior IPS officers to the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Old JNU campus. All the officers currently working in the NIA have been asked to attend the 12-day course, including offline-online classes. The officers have been asked to ensure their presence in the classroom on time. After completing their course, they would be given a certificate of participation.
