On Wednesday, it prevailed over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining northeast Indonesia,” the IMD said on Wednesday. According to the IMD, the cyclone will cross the Indonesian coast by Wednesday noon and thereafter weaken.
Heavy rainfall alert in Tamil Nadu: The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu between November 25 and 30. “Heavy rainfall likely over Tamil Nadu during November 25-30; over Kerala & Mahe on November 26; Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Rayalaseema during November 29 to December 1; Andaman & Nicobar Islands during November 25 to 29, with very heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu during November 28-30, Andaman & Nicobar Islands during November 26 & 27, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Rayalaseema on November 30,” the IMD said in its weather bulletin.
“Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely over Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam & Rayalaseema and over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, alongside heavy rains. Gusty wind speeds reaching up to 60 kmph are likely,” it added.
No immediate risk to India: Cyclone Senyar posed no immediate risk to India, the IMD said, as it was located about 600 km east-southeast of Nancowry, Nicobar Islands and 740 km southeast of Car Nicobar. The storm was located close to Indonesia (about 100km from Kuta Makmur) and about 260 km west-southwest of George Town in Malaysia.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said, "The cyclonic storm ''Senyar" [Pronunciation: 'Sen-yar'] over coastal areas of Northeast Indonesia moved south-southwestwards with a speed of 7 kmph in past 6 hours and lay centred at 1130 hours IST of today, 26th November 2025 near latitude 4.7°N and longitude 97.8°E over the same region, about 90 km east-southeast of Kuta Makmur (Indonesia), 290 km west-southwest of George Town (Malaysia), 600 km southeast of Nancowry (Nicobar Islands) and 740 km southeast of Car Nicobar (Nicobar Islands)."
Cyclone Senyar Tracker LIVE Updates: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands is expected to be heavily impacted from November 23 onwards. Rainfall will increase over both island groups through the weekend. The Nicobar Islands will see heavy to very heavy rain (105–204 mm in 24 hours) on November 24 and 25 as the system passes close to the region. Wind speeds will reach 35–45 km/hr, with gusts up to 55 km/hr till Sunday, and rise to about 65 km/hr on November 25.

Cyclone Senyar Tracker LIVE Updates: The IMD in a post said, "The cyclonic storm Senyar [Pronunciation: 'Sen-yar'] over Strait of Malacca and adjoining Northeast Indonesia moved west-southwestwards with a speed of 13 kmph in past 6 hours and crossed Indonesia coast near 4.9°N between 0730-0830 hours IST with wind speed of 70-80 kmph gusting to 90kmph, and lay centered at 0830 hours IST of today, the 26th November, 2025 over coastal areas of northeast Indonesia near latitude 4.9°N and longitude 97.8°E, about 80 km east of Kuta Makmur (Indonesia), 280 km west of George Town (Malaysia), 580 km southeast of Nancowry (Nicobar Islands) and 730 km southeast of Car Nicobar (Nicobar Islands). It is very likely to continue to move west-southwestwards and maintain the intensity of cyclonic storm till 27th early morning. Thereafter, it is very likely to recurve eastwards with gradual weakening during subsequent 24 hours."
Cyclone Senyar Tracker LIVE Updates: The name “Senyar,” meaning “lion,” was submitted by the United Arab Emirates and is part of the pre-approved list of tropical cyclone names used in the region. These lists are compiled under a naming system developed by member countries of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Panel on Tropical Cyclones. According to the current roster, “Senyar” is the designated name for the next cyclonic system that forms in the North Indian Ocean.
