The Delhi High Court today reserved its order on the bail plea of Vishal Yadav, serving life sentence for killing Nitish Katara,to attend his sisters marriage scheduled on January 25.
A Division Bench of Justices Anil Kumar and Mool Chand Garg reserved the order after hearing arguments of the counsel of the accused,as well as lawyers of Delhi and UP police.
Opposing the bail plea,Delhi police counsel said the accused has several other family members who can very well manage the marriage function and the presence of Vishal was not required.
However, the UP police, said in its status report that it has no objection if he would be granted bail but the accused should be allowed to attend the ceremony in the presence of police.
Meanwhile,in an application Neelam Katara, the mother of the deceased, told the bench that Vishals argument seeking bail to manage the financial aspect of the marriage should be rejected as his mother has sold a property worth Rs 30 lakhs recently and his presence was not required.
In the bail plea,Vishal said that his father is no more and being eldest son in the family he has to perform the rituals of his younger sisters marriage and also to handle the financial aspect.
Earlier,Vishal was granted five hours parole (5pm to 10pm) to attend his sisters engagement function held on January 3 in the presence of UP and Delhi policemen who will be in plain clothes.
Vishal and Vikas Yadav, nephew and son of controversial Uttar Pradesh Politician D P Yadav, were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by a trial court in May last year for killing Katara, son of a former IAS officer,in February 2002 as they were against Kataras intimacy with Vikass sister Bharati Yadav.
