A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Odisha’s Sundargarh district,police said here today.
The incident occurred in Ranto village when the child along with her grandmother was returning home after attending a birthday party in a nearby village yesterday.
The old woman,unable to walk fast,requested the accused Manguru Minz to drop the child in her house.
On the way,the youth allegedly raped her near a nullah before leaving her at the house.
After the girl’s mother,a daily wage earner,came to know about the incident,a police complaint was registered and Manguru was arrested today.
During interrogation,Manguru confessed to the crime,police said.
Manguru was produced before a local court which remanded him in jail custody.
