Attack on PM’s ex-media adviser: man arrested in Thane

Gautam Virendra Singh is suspected to be one of the three men who attacked ournalist Harish Khare.

A team of Delhi police,with the assistance of local cops,today arrested a youth in connection with attack on journalist Harish Khare,former media adviser

to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,last week.

Gautam Virendra Singh is suspected to be one of the three men who attacked and robbed Khare in the Civil Lines area in Delhi on the evening of July 8.

Police said that after they traced him to a house in Ram Nagar slum in Thane city,Gautam tried to slash himself on the face and head with a razor.

He was then taken to the local Prathamesh Hospital. He would be taken to Delhi in the next two days,police said.

India has strongly condemned Pakistan’s recent military actions along the Afghan border, accusing Islamabad of sheltering and sponsoring terrorist organisations amid escalating tensions between the two neighbours. At a press briefing on Thursday, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also underlined New Delhi’s support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and independence.
