Court reserves order on MP Engineer Rashid’s bail petition

A Delhi court will decide on the bail plea of Abdul Rashid Sheikh, also known as Engineer Rashid, a Kashmiri MP on September 4.

Rashid has been in jail since 2019 in an alleged case of terror funding. He won the Lok Sabha polls in 2024 as an Independent candidate from the Baramulla seat in J&K. He defeated his nearest rival, NC leader Omar Abdullah, by a margin of over 2 lakh votes.

In its opposition to the bail plea, NIA said that he was using public platforms to propagate the ideology of separatism and secessionism and also protected various terrorist groups and militants.
