Amid reports of human-wildlife conflict from Corbett Tiger Reserve, a man’s close-quarters encounter with the striped beast is being shared widely on social media.

In a video clip from Uttarakhand’s Jim Corbett National Park, shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan, a man is seen walking down a road flanked by trees as a tiger crosses the road in front of him in a hurry.

Sharing the video, Kaswan wondered, “Is he the luckiest man alive. Tiger seems least bothered.”

“Is he the luckiest man alive. Tiger seems least bothered. From Corbett,” wrote Kaswan.

Several social media users responded to the clip with both clever quips and concerns about how human settlements are hindering wildlife and conservation efforts.

The Jim Corbett National Park, named after the remarkable hunter-naturalist, is the country’s oldest national park and is known for its high tiger population.
