The police said it was not clear why they took the extreme step. (File photo) A young tribal couple aged in their 20s killed their two children and hanged themselves near their village in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district Sunday. The police said it was not clear why they took the extreme step.
The police said the family belonged to Pahadi Korwa, a tribal community that lives in the hills. The community is on the vulnerable group list of the government.
The deceased, identified as Raju Ram, 28, and his wife Bhinsarinbai, 22, had collected ration just a day ago. Ram had never been to a school. The two were into farming and also collected mahua.
“They did not have any livelihood issues. They also got a house built under the Awas Yojana. We are speaking with their relatives to find out what went wrong…” said a police official.
