BJP Election Results 2024 Highlights: ‘INDIA has won and Modi has lost,’ says Mamata Banerjee

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that election results have decided that the NDA government will be formed again. While remembering a record being made this time, Jaishankar said that “it’ll be the first time in the last 60 years that a party has won three times in a row.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that it is a big thing for the BJP to come to power for a straight third time. Himanta Sarma further said that “Today we have 240 seats and our nearest rival Congress got only 98 seats, there is a difference of 142 seats between Congress and BJP.” BJP won nine Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam.

BJP’s Meerut candidate actor Arun Govil, famous for his role in TV series ‘Ramayan’, has won the constituency with a margin of 10,585 votes. Govil, while speaking to the media, said “I would like to thank the voters, BJP workers, and party leadership. I will try my best to meet their expectations to the best of my ability.”

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said that their alliance will decide upon the Prime Minister candidate tomorrow. Uddhav further added that “The day our INDIA alliance was formed, we had decided that we want to end the dictatorship in the country and save the Constitution.” Mentioning NDA ally and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Uddhav said that he has been “harassed by BJP”.

While addressing the party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, PM Narendra Modi said that the mandate is the victory of the biggest democracy in the world. While mentioning the 1962 elections, PM Modi said that “After 1962, for the first time, a government has come back to power for the third time after being in power twice back to back.”

BJP National President JP Nadda, while addressing the party workers at the BJP headquarter in Delhi, said that “This opportunist alliance (INDIA alliance) has been rejected for the third time. They should do self-introspection.” Nadda further said that “For the first time any alliance in the country is going to form the government for the third consecutive time.”

In the first reaction after the results started pouring in for the Lok Sabha election 2024, PM Narendra Modi said on X that “People have placed their faith in NDA, for a third consecutive time! This is a historical feat in India’s history.” PM Modi, who won the Varanasi constituency for the third time in a row, further said “I bow to the Janata Janardan for this affection and assure them that we will continue the good work done in the last decade to keep fulfilling the aspirations of people.”

RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav has said that BJP was going everywhere and saying it will cross 400, “was clear earlier that they won’t and they haven't even reached 280...exit polls always show things like this". Talking about her sister Misa Bharti, who is contesting from Patliputra seat in Bihar, Tej Pratap told ANI, “She was supposed to win, she worked very hard and she got the love of people.” When asked about talks of alliance with JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar, Tej Pratap said that "We can't say anything about him...I don't know anything.”

TMC chairperson Mamata Banerjee held a press conference today on the Lok Sabha results: She criticised the NDA government and said. "...Even after causing so many atrocities, spending so much money, this arrogance of Modi ji and Amit Shah, INDIA has won and Modi has lost. They have even lost in Ayodhya..."

BJP's Chudasama Naran wins Junagadh Lok Sabha seat by 135494 votes defeating Jotva Arjan of Congress. But the biggest win is by
BJP sitting MP Shankar Lalwani who got record 11,75,092 votes from Indore Lok Sabha seat. Meanwhile, record 2,18,674 people voted for NOTA.

BJP is leading the LS polls with 246 seats. Congress has gained with 96 votes while SP is claiming 33 seats followed by AITC at 29 seats and DMK at 21. Others claim 118 seats.

Former Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan has won Vidisha seat with a record over 8.20 lakh votes.

BJP loses Faizabad. This is probably the most shocking defeat as the constituency covers Ayodhya, and the Ram Temple was all over the news a few months back. Most thought that Lallu Singh, the incumbent Faizabad MP from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will sail smoothly however, he is being defeated by the Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is leading by 1,03,425 votes. BJP leader Sambit Patra is leading by 76,912 votes from Puri seat.

In the Lok Sabha Election Results 2024, PM Modi is leading with 144265 votes against Congress leader Ajay Rai. 

JD (U) still leads on 14 seats, however, BJP has gained momentum leading in 13 seats. LJPRV sees a drop and is now leading at 5 seats. Meanwhile, this poll has upset the RJD who is leading in just three seats (including Misa Bharti). Congress and CPI (ML) (2) are leading on 2 seats each.

As per official ECI trends, in Kerala, BJP is likely to make history by winning a Lok Sabha seat for the first time. Overall, Congress is leading on 95 seats and INDIA bloc has crossed 200. 

As per the latest trends, BJP candidate Arun Govil, who has been leading since mroning, is now trailing behind SP candidate Sunita Verma by 4142 votes

As per latest reports, Union Minister and BJP candidate from Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat Anurag Thakur is leading by a margin of 1,73,461 votes. His supporters, as per PTI, has already started the celebration outside the party office in Hamirpur. Counting is underway.

Meanwhile, the registration counters for newly elected members of the 18th Lok Sabha to be operational from 2 PM on June 4. Further, between June 5 and June 14, 2024 the operation hours would be from 10 AM to 8 PM in the Parliament House complex.

Subramanian Swamy, president of Virat Hindustan Sangam and former cabinet minister, on his social media handle 'X' commented on BJP's performance in the 2024 Elections. He said that his estimate of 220 for BJP has turned to be very close to the truth of 237. He further said had the BJP followed the suggestions he had made then they it could have achieved 300. "Unfortunately, the dictatorial mindset of Modi has put BJP in a ditch from which it has to now climb out," he said.

Union Minister Smriti Irani, who had hit headlines last year by winning Amethi seat by defeating Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, is currently trailing by 23,428 votes in Amethi. Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma is ahead of her, according to the Election Commission.

BJP has established early leads in at least 50 assembly seats in Odisha, as per the Election Commission of India website. BJD nominees, on the other hand, were leading in 35 constituencies in 94 of 147 assembly seats in the state for which early trends were available till 10.30 am.

Congress was ahead in seven seats and the CPI (M) in one, while an Independent candidate was also leading, Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal said.

Prominent BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Gopal Jee Thakur are also leading in Patna Sahib and Darbhanga Lok Sabha constituencies respectively.

As per initial trends of 429 seats by ECI, the BJP is leading on 200 seats while Congress is leading on 80 seats. The next big party emerging is Samajwadi Party leading on 29 seats

As per early trends, the Opposition’s INDIA bloc has made massive gains as against their 2019 numbers. INDIA bloc already having crossed the 200-seat mark. However, the NDA is leading in major states including Uttar Pradesh and is set to return to power. 

BJP candidate Maneka Gandhi, who is seeking a ninth term as a Lok Sabha MP, is currently leading from the Sultanpur Lok Sabha constituency. 

From Bollywood, BJP has given ticket to Hema Malini from Mathura who also won the 2019 election from the same seat. However, Arun Govil and Kangana Ranaut are the first time contenders.

Boosted by the exit polls predictions, BJP is blearnt to be planning a “political event”, which is likely to be scheduled for the weekend. The preparation is in full swing. While sources confirm BJP has elaborate plans for the swearing-in ceremony, Tawde said, “There is no such discussion on this at present. We look into this only after seeing the trends, not on the basis of the exit polls' projections.”

INDIA bloc leaders have been raising doubts over the electronic voting machines (EVMs). They have accused the BJP, especially, prime minister of sending a signal to the bureaucracy through these 'fantasy' exit polls and marched to the EC, urging the poll watchdog to follow the counting guidelines.

PM Modi is leading from Varanasi, a BJP-dominated seat. Narendra Modi has contested elections from Benaras in 2014 and 2019 as well. He won both times with huge margins. This year too, Modi is expected to win the seat.
