Bank Holiday Today on April 14, 2025: Banks in several Indian cities will remain closed today, Monday, April 14, on account of the public holiday Ambedkar Jayanti, in addition to different regional festivities like Puthandu (Tamil New Year), Vishu (Malayalam New Year), and Bohag Bihu (Assamese New Year).
Notably, the Indian Share Market, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) are also closed, however, on account of Ambedkar Jayanti.
However, people across India have been confused regarding the exact cities where the closure of banks will be observed. The bank holidays in India are set and announced by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) following the Negotiable Instruments Act, considering both regional and national holidays – in addition to the mandatory weekly days off on the second and fourth Saturdays and every Sunday of the month.
