The militants and the seized items were handed over to Sangaikot Police station for further investigation. Security forces Monday foiled an infiltration attempt by Myanmar-based militant outfit that tried to cross over into Manipur along the international border in Churachandpur district and arrested two people, officials said.
The security forces nabbed two cadres of the Myanmar-based Chin Kuki Liberation Army (CKLA) along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition, they said.
Official sources said weapons including an AK 47, INSAS rifle, MQ assault rifle, Sniper rifle, and M16 Assault Rifle, and various ammunition were seized from the two arrested who were identified as cadres of CKLA, the non-SoO (militant group not under the suspension of agreement with the government).
The militants and the seized items were handed over to Sangaikot Police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Police and Assam Rifles in a combined operation raided the houses in the hilly area of Wangoo Laiphum and recovered arms and ammunition on Tuesday from near a cemetery, said the police.
The recovered items include an AK 47 rifle, five SLR, four .303 rifle and INSAS rifles, 11 high explosive hand grenades, 15 grenade launching tubes, explosives and detonators. The items were handed over to the police station concerned, officials said.
