Voter ID Card Update Status: India is all set to conduct its elections in 2024, which comprise both general elections 2024 electing the members of the 18th Lok Sabha and assembly elections in several states. Recently, the ECI (Election Commission of India), on Saturday, March 16, finally released the schedule for the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha elections.

As the Lok Sabha Elections will be held from April 19 to June 1, 2024, spanning seven phases with results announced on June 4, 2024, having an updated voter ID, also known as the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC), is crucial for participating in the democratic process and serving as an essential document for casting a vote. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to check if the voter ID is updated.

Step 1: Visit the National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) portal

Start by visiting the official National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) website at: https://www.nvsp.in/ or https://voters.eci.gov.in/. The NVSP is a comprehensive platform that provides various services related to voter registration and information.

Step 2: Track the application

After submitting the correction form, one can track the status of the application on the website using the reference number provided. It may take a few weeks for the changes to be processed and updated on the electoral roll.

Step 3: Check voter ID details

  • Using the EPIC Number: Click on ‘Search in the Electoral Roll’ on the homepage. Select the ‘Search by EPIC No.‘ option. Enter your EPIC number (found on your voter ID card) and select your state from the drop-down menu. Click on ‘Search’ to view your voter details.
  • Using Personal Details: If one doesn’t have the EPIC number handy, select the ‘Search by Details‘ option. Enter your details, such as name, age, date of birth, gender, state, and district. Click on ‘Search’ to view your voter details.

Step 4: Verify Updated Information

  • If your details appear in the search results, click on your name to view the updated information on your Voter ID.
  • Check if the details such as name, address, age, gender, and photograph are correct and updated.

Step 5: Contact the Electoral Office (if necessary)

  • If you do not find your details or if the information is not updated, contact your nearest Electoral Registration Office (ERO) or visit the official website of your state’s Chief Electoral Officer for further assistance.
