According to the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulations of 2016, individuals are required to refresh their proof of identity and address documents every decade from the date of their Aadhaar registration.

To assist with this process, the UIDAI has extended the deadline for free online updates to December 14, 2024, via the ‘myAadhaar’ portal, and after this date, any updates made at Aadhaar centres will be subject to a nominal charge of Rs 50.

Enlisted below are the required documents for the process of updating the Aadhaar card online via the myAadhaar portal:
Step 1: Visit the UIDAI official website and select your preferred language.
Step 2: Access the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab and select ‘Update Your Aadhaar’.
Step 3: Proceed to the ‘Update Aadhaar Details (Online)’ page and click ‘Document Update’.
Step 4: Authenticate yourself by entering your UID number and Captcha verification code.
Step 5: Log in after receiving OTP.
Step 6: Select and fill in demographic details.
Step 7: Submit and upload the necessary documents.
Step 8: Finalise the update by clicking ‘Submit Update Request’.
Step 9: Receive an Update Request Number (URN) via SMS for tracking status.
Please note: Biometric features require verification and must be confirmed at an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
