Every month, streaming giants launch new web series and films to keep the viewers hooked. Here’s a guide to everything that is new on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ZEE5, ALTBalaji and Hotstar in November.
Netflix
Drive: November 1
Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the action thriller features Sushant Singh Rajput, Jacqueline Fernandez, Boman Irani, Pankaj Tripathi, Vibha Chhibber, Sapna Pabbi and Vikramjeet Virk. It is a story of a thief (Sushant) who joins hands with a street racer (Jacqueline) for a grand heist involving an elaborate game of deceit with authorities who have their own dirty secrets. In an interview with IANS, Sushant had said, “When you are going to watch the film, you would not know what is going to happen next.”
Little Things: November 9
Kavya and Dhruv’s relationship goes from live-in to long-distance in the third season of Little Things. They will embark on their respective journeys of self-discovery but how will it impact their life as a couple will be seen on November 9 when the show starts streaming on Netflix.
House Arrest: November 15
Starring Ali Fazal, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Jim Sarbh and directed by Shashanka Ghosh and Samit Basu, Netflix film House Arrest explores the story of a man trapped in his own fears. He locks himself in his home to keep out the onslaught of modern life. Later, he discovers that while he can restrict his interaction with the world, he can’t keep the world from entering his domain.
Amazon Prime Video
Jallikattu: November 1
Lijo Jose Pellissery directorial Jallikattu is defined as “An exhilarating ride” by The Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta. The film is based on a short story called Maoist, which was penned by S Hareesh, who has also co-written this film with R Jayakumar.
Open Mic Stand: November 15
Open Mic Stand will start streaming from November 15
One Mic Stand has some of India’s notable figures like Bhuvan Bam, Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha, Vishal Dadlani and Dr Shashi Tharoor making their debut in stand up comedy. They are trained by Zakir Khan, Kunal Kamra, Angad Ranyal, Rohan Joshi, Sapan Verma and Ashish Shakya.
ALTBalaji
Virgin Bhasskar: November 19
The ALTBalaji original is a comedy series. It revolves around a 26-year-old adult novelist Bhaskar Tripathi (Anant Joshi) who wants to lose his virginity with the girl he loves and cannot help but write about it. The show will also be available on ZEE5.
Broken But Beautiful 2: November 27
Broken But Beautiful 2 will stream on ALTBalaji and ZEE5.
The first season of Vikrant Massey and Harleen Sethi’s romantic drama was a huge success. Now, in the second season, the lead characters Veer and Sameera will be seen leading their own lives after deciding to stay away from each other. In this quest of moving on and starting a new chapter of their lives separately, they have forgotten that they are meant to be together. Now, how will they come back together will make the narrative of the second installment of the show.
Hotstar
Chhichhore: November 1
Nitesh Tiwari film Chhichhore released in theaters in September and now it is available to stream on Hotstar Premium. Starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor, the film is a story of friendship set in a college. It was called a “riveting story of today’s generation” by the makers.
Out of Love: November 22
Starring Purab Kohli, Rasika Dugal, Soni Razdan and Tigmanshu Dhulia, Hotstar’s original series Out of Love is an official adaptation of the award-winning BBC series Doctor Foster. Produced by BBC Studios and directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Aijaz Khan, it follows the story of Dr Meera Kapoor (Dugal) who has a perfect life until she discovers that her husband Akarsh Kapoor (Kohli) is cheating on her. Hotstar described the show as, “A gripping portrait of a marriage that’s poisoned by infidelity and heartbreak, Out of Love depicts the emotional and psychological dilemma that erupts from complex relationships.”
ZEE5
Dream Girl: November 21
Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha starrer Dream Girl was received well by movie buffs. The film saw Ayushmann flirting with his clients in the voice of a girl called Pooja. In her review, Indian Express’ film critic Shubhra Gupta wrote, “There are many good ideas floating around in Dream Girl. But ideas need execution, and on that score, this film flubs it: it has so little wit and imagination that it turns all those ideas into a series of flat set-pieces. And that’s sad because it has a stand-out lead, Ayushmann Khurrana, in yet another stand-out part.”
Love Sleep Repeat: November 7
Starring Raima Sen and Anshuman Malhotra, the story of Love Sleep Repeat revolves around Vishwas, a naive, small-town boy who gets a job opportunity in Pune. There, he meets different girls, in seven days, who teach him a lesson. It is based on Anmol Rana’s book Seven Days Without You. Talking about the series, Anshuman, who was seen in The Final Call, said, “Love Sleep Repeat is a lighthearted, breezy story. We have been shooting the series since early this month, and the process has been fun! It is packed with situational humour and romance, which makes it the perfect binge-watch content on ZEE5.”
Virgin Bhasskar and Broken But Beautiful 2 will also stream on ZEE5.
