Solo Leveling season 3 update: Producer Atsushi Kaneko hints fan support could decide its future
Solo Leveling season 2 ended with a thrilling finale. While no renewal is confirmed, producer Atsushi Kaneko hinted it depends on fan demand.

Solo Leveling Season 2 concluded with the Jeju Island Arc, where Sung Jinwoo secured his place as one of the most powerful hunters. However, as the season ended with a cliffhanger, speculations around Season 3 have been growing. Atsushi Kaneko, the animation producer at A-1 Pictures, recently addressed the future of the series during Aniplex After Hours, according to CBR. For now, fans should probably look forward to a Solo Leveling recap film covering Season 2’s biggest moments, just like the first season’s finale.
The Solo Leveling Season 2 finale and season 3 update
Jinwoo’s climactic battle against the Ant King ended with the resurrection of the beast as his newest and strongest shadow soldier, Beru. But the moment that really hit home was saving Hae In’s life by briefly raising healer Byung Gu as a shadow, only to release him so he could finally rest in peace. The finale cracked the door wide open for what’s to come. New players entered the scene, including a mysterious Chinese S-Rank hunter and potential villains. Meanwhile, Jinwoo’s long-lost father lurked in the background, watching these newcomers from the shadows. Jinwoo wasted no time stepping into yet another Red Gate, one that could hold even greater dangers.

So, what’s next? Are we getting solo levelling season 3? Producer Atsushi Kaneko recently hinted that the anime is “ending for now” but left the door open for a return, depending on fan demand. “With Episode 25, which will be broadcast soon, the TV anime series Solo Leveling will come to an end, for now,” Kaneko said during a Q&A session. “With the support of everyone, it may continue, or it may not,” he suggested, adding that A-1 Pictures is waiting to gauge fan demand before confirming the next installment.
“Personally, I really hope it does. This anime has made it this far thanks to all of you, so I hope you’ll keep supporting us even after the final episode. Please look forward to the finale,” Kaneko said before teasing the final cut of season 2. Given the series’ massive popularity, a renewal is definitely on the table. However, delays could stem from A-1 Pictures’ packed production schedule, including major projects like Fate/Strange Fake and Aldnoah.Zero (Re+).
If Season 3 follows the manhwa’s pacing, the new season will likely dive straight into the Ahjin Guild Arc. Jinwoo will likely start assembling his team to uncover deeper secrets about the gates. Fans can also expect the anime to introduce powerful figures, including National-Level Hunter Thomas Andre and the unpredictable Hwang Dongsoo, according to ScreenRant. The first two seasons of Solo Leveling each adapted around seven arcs of the manhwa. Season 2 wrapped up at chapter 110 of the manhwa (chapter 132 of the web novel), meaning Season 3 has plenty of material to work with. The Solo Leveling manhwa has 179 chapters plus an epilogue, meaning there are still over 90 chapters left to adapt. It could cover two more seasons, maybe more if A-1 Pictures decides to include web novel content that was skipped in the manhwa.
As of now there’s no official word for season 3 renewal but, fans should keep an eye on Jump Festa 2025 or AnimeJapan 2025 for major announcements.
