Sima Taparia decodes modern relationships: ‘Ego stands out as the main reason for failed relationships’

Mumbai-based matchmaker Sima Taparia became a celebrity herself after starring in the Netflix series Indian Matchmaking. Ever since the series started streaming, her name became synonymous with arranged marriages among youngsters. Sima recently shared that she strongly believes that ego is the biggest reason that creates problems in contemporary relationships.

Sima will soon be seen in the reality show Temptation Island India, where she will be seen sharing pearls of wisdom with young couples.

When asked to share her thoughts on how to build strong relationships, Sima Taparia said, “Ego stands out as the main reason for failed relationships in today’s time. If ego takes precedence and there’s a lack of respect for your partner, problems are inevitable. Setting aside ego and communicating with full respect are crucial for a relationship to endure.”

Sima’s remarks on Indian matchmaking did invite a fair share of scrutiny, with a certain section of the audience disagreeing with her belief system when it comes to love and marriage. However, that did not stop Netflix from renewing the matchmaking reality show for two more seasons.

Further talking about relationships, Sima added, “Two other vital components of a successful relationship are adjustment and compromise. Compromise kaha nahi karte, be it work or in relationships, it’s very important to compromise.”
