Samantha Ruth Prabhu teases fans with Citadel update: ‘Finally, we got to watch something…’

Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will share screen space in the Indian adaptation of the American series Citadel. As anticipation builds among fans for updates on the web show, The Family Man actor recently shared a photo featuring Varun, the show’s directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, along with writer Sita R Menon.

In the pictures posted by Samantha, she is seen examining glimpses of Citadel with the project’s team. Samantha sports a chic black jacket, complemented by a stylish cap and denim pants, while Varun exudes casual coolness in an off-white shirt paired with denim pants. Alongside the images, Samantha wrote, “Finally, we got to watch something…And we are like (accompanied by heart eye emojis).” The post was accompanied by the song “Auva Auva Koi Yahan Nache”.

Citadel boasts a star-studded cast, including Varun Dhawan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Sikandar Kher, and Emma Canning in pivotal roles. The series was filmed in Serbia and India. Samantha completed her part in the show before announcing a break from acting to focus on her health. She had been diagnosed with myositis, an autoimmune condition resulting from inflammation in the muscles.

The original American web show Citadel, featuring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in lead roles, receiving mixed reviews and a modest audience response. Reports indicate that the production cost of the series amounted to $250 million (over Rs 2000 crore). It was bankrolled by the Russo brothers, renowned for directing four Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
