Filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, known for their edgy projects like The Family Man, Farzi, Go Goa Gone, and more, recently revealed that they began working on their latest project Citadel: Honey Bunny while still completing The Family Man 2, in which Samantha Ruth Prabhu played a pivotal role. Despite working with the Super Deluxe star at the time, they didn’t immediately consider her for the role of Honey due to her limited proficiency in Hindi.
In a recent interaction with News 18, Raj shared, “For a long time, we kept thinking about who could play Honey. The first version of Citadel: Honey Bunny had a very Hindi-speaking female protagonist. Samantha’s Hindi, on the other hand, was extremely minimal during The Family Man 2. That’s why she wasn’t an automatic choice.”
In the same interview, Samantha admitted that her Hindi skills were weak because she was afraid her accent and pronunciation wouldn’t be accurate. However, she worked hard to train herself in the language to meet the demands of the role.
In another interview, Samantha Ruth Prabhu revealed that she filmed Citadel: Honey Bunny after being diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder myositis. She shared how she had “begged” the filmmakers to replace her and even recommended other actors for the part, as she doubted her ability to complete the project due to her health condition. Despite this, Samantha found the strength to finish the shoot before going in for her treatment.
