Murder in Mahim: Vijay Raaz and Ashutosh Rana enter Mumbai’s seedy underbelly in JioCinema crime series
Murder in Mahim, based on Jerry Pinto's book, stars old friends Jende and Peter (played by Vijay Raaz and Ashutosh Rana), who are reunited by a murder.

When a young man is found murdered in the washroom of a railway station in Mumbai, a tough-as-nails cop finds himself joining hands with a veteran journalist to crack the case in the upcoming JioCinema series Murder in Mahim. Vijay Raaz plays the cop, Jende, while Ashutosh Rana plays Peter, the journalist. They were once friends; and the murder acts a bridge for their reconciliation. Murder in Mahim is based on a novel by Jerry Pinto, published in 2017. The series has been directed by Raj Acharya and written by Mustafa Neemuchwala and Udai Singh Pawar.
The trailer opens with the murder of a young man, who is found dead in a washroom notorious for prostitution. Not too long after Jende is assigned the case, Peter comes knocking on his door. Both characters are sucked into a world of secret desires and deceit, as they join forces to track down the killer and confront their personal biases along the way. Further complications arise when Jende’s own son, Sunil, becomes a suspect in the case. We also see questions being raised about the ethics of sex work, queer rights, and class divide.
Ashutosh Rana was recently seen in the big-budget films Fighter, Tiger 3 and Pathaan. He also starred in Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond, another JioCinema offering. Vijay Raaz, on the other hand, was seen in the Netflix film Kathal, and in the Disney+ Hotstar series Showtime.
Also starring Shivani Raghuvanshi and Shivaji Satam in pivotal roles, Murder in Mahim will be released on JioCinema Premium on May 10. The streamer is ramping up its programming slate with new content behind a paywall, after providing largely free content for over a year. JioCinema recently announced an ad-free premium package for an introductory price of Rs 29 per month, offering stiff competition to seasons players such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar.
